About the artist:

Petra Pinn is a native German artist based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. She has always been fascinated by Australia’s beautiful nature which are the inspirations for her artworks. The Australian birdlife, rainforest, as well as rural Australia has been subject matter in many of her works.

Beauty, colour, sunlight, travel and finding a little story somewhere is what drives her to create. She is attracted to the shapes and colour light creates. Her training as a textile designer often influences the use of pattern and colour.

Painting interiors and still life, she lets her imaginations run free. Inside these rooms and often vintage inspired settings, the viewer gets to travel the world and encounter a menagerie of animals. Rooms start to have a life of their own, while colours and patterns set the mood.

She uses acrylic and oil paint for most works, but loves to work with gouache and inks when sketching and working small.
